The Story

The meaning behind the mission

Growing up in a low-income family presented significant challenges. While being homeschooled limited some opportunities, I cherished the time it afforded me to learn and grow. Transitioning to the local public school, I quickly realized I aspired for more than what my upbringing had provided. This realization spurred me to become actively involved in school, the community, and also to take on a part-time job.

Determined to avoid college debt and aware of my parents' inability to offer financial support, I proactively sought out resources, scholarships, and grants. To further minimize costs, I chose to stay local for my higher education. With the help of low-income government grants, my tuition was fully covered, while scholarships funded my textbooks and living expenses. Balancing a full-time job, I attended college for five years and earned three degrees without incurring any personal expense.

My experiences have ignited a passion to assist others in similar circumstances. I am dedicated to guiding those in need to access the support and resources available to people facing poverty. It is possible to overcome such challenges, and I am committed to helping others ‘rise above the rut’ that once constrained me.
